The President of the World Raw Powerlifting Federation and the heaviest raw bench press of all time holder, Kirill Sarychev was one of the first to announce the death of Konstantin. He posted the words “Rest in my peace, my friend…” in Russian on Sunday.
The first post that got everyone’s attention was made by the deadlift specialist Cailer Woolam:
RIP BIG GUY. I’M GLAD I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET YOU; IT WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE EXPERIENCES DURING MY TRIP TO RUSSIA. THANKS FOR ALL THE INSPIRATION OVER YEARS ❤️
Konstantinovs is well-known for his monstrous deadlift, and held multiple official, as well as unofficial world records, such as the heaviest ever drug-tested raw deadlift in the 275-pound class (906 pounds), the heaviest equipped deadlift in the 275-pound class (945 pounds), the highest raw total with or without wraps in the 308-pound class (2.217 pounds), and the heaviest ever raw deadlift, in both tested and untested federations, in the 308-pound class (939 pounds), without a belt!
Check his 939-pound pull without a belt, the heaviest raw deadlift in any weight class for a time, below.
Online, they spread lots of rumors concerning Konstantin’s death, while he worked as a professional bodyguard; they say he died in a street fight. However, there is nothing confirming this version in Russian media.
The entire global powerlifting community was shaken and shocked by that death. All athletes and people affected by his death, accept our condolences!
