Carl Lewis is one of the greatest runners and athletes to have ever lived. Training as hard as humanly possible on a daily basis, using the best supplements in the world, using the best facilities in the world, eating the best food for his sport and training to perfection.
How can we not all LOVE Carl Lewis? Say what you want about him and what your opinions might be but one thing is for sure about this guy is that he is a dedicated hard working champion among men. Carl Lewis also held a LOT and I mean a lot more muscle mass than most runners and I’ll explain why below.
Carl Lewis won 10 Olympic medals including 9 gold, and 10 World Championships medals, including 8 gold. His career spanned from 1979 when he first achieved a world ranking to 1996 when he last won an Olympic title and subsequently retired. Lewis became an actor and has appeared in a number of films.
Lewis was a dominant sprinter and long jumper who topped the world rankings in the 100 m, 200 m and long jump events frequently from 1981 to the early 1990s, was named Athlete of the Year by Track & Field News in 1982, 1983, and 1984, and set world records in the 100 m, 4 × 100 m and 4 × 200 m relays.
His world record in the indoor long jump has stood since 1984 and his 65 consecutive victories in the long jump achieved over a span of 10 years is one of the sport’s longest undefeated streaks. Over the course of his athletics career, Lewis broke ten seconds for 100 metres 15 times and 20 seconds for 200 metres 10 times.
A common question is: “Carl Lewis – Steroids, did he take them?”. Well, he has failed a steroid test, so OBVIOUSLY he did!
But this isn’t my point. I feel it’s safe to say every single person he beat in that race was also on steroids. Did steroids make him the champion that he is? Of course not. Training hard every day, spending hours in the gym, hours running, eating the healthiest way possible is what made him a champion.
The steroids simply allowed him to recover faster, work harder, and gave him more endurance and, yes, did improve his performance.
But that doesn’t take away from all the hard work he’s put in if you think any world class sportsman is NOT using anabolic steroids you need your head examined. This is an Olympic athlete we are talking about, not some guy sat in an arcade trying to break the high score on Pacman.
Unlike many guys out there, Lewis was far more honest when confronted about using anabolic steroids heres what he had to say!
Lewis: ‘Who cares I failed drug test?’
Carl Lewis has broken his silence on allegations that he was the beneficiary of a drugs cover-up, admitting he had tested positive for banned substances but claiming he was just one of “hundreds” of American athletes who were allowed to escape bans.
“There were hundreds of people getting off,” he said. “Everyone was treated the same.”
Lewis has now acknowledged that he failed three tests during the 1988 US Olympic trials, which under international rules at the time should have prevented him from competing in the Seoul games two months later.
The admission is a further embarrassment for the United States Olympic Committee, which had initially denied claims that 114 positive tests between 1988 and 2000 were covered up. It will add weight to calls by leading anti-doping officials and top athletes for an independent inquiry into the US’s record on drug issues.
Last week Dr Wade Exum alleged that a ban imposed on Lewis after positive tests for three stimulants had been overturned by the USOC when the athlete said he had ingested them mistakenly in a herbal supplement.
Lewis received only a warning after officials ruled that his positive tests were due to “inadvertent” use. Some scientists believe the substances could have been a masking agent for more serious drugs, such as anabolic steroids.
“The climate was different then,” said Lewis. “Over the years a lot of people will sit around and debate that [the drug] does something. There really is no pure evidence to show that it does something. It does nothing.”
Carl Lewis Steroids
Again Carl Lewis at least showed more “Honesty” than most do in these cases of course because he didn’t cry out “Im sorry I cheated I should never have done this!!” he gets labelled with an arrogant attitude and called a scum bag and all the usual silly minded insults from silly men out there.
But a good question is “What steroids did Carl Lewis use to increase his performance?”
Anabolic steroids such as Anavar, testosterone, and human growth hormone will have been the key. The testosterone to increase his levels way above what a normal male would have.
Why would he do this? To A recover from training faster and B increase muscle mass and fibres in his legs to allow him to run faster, longer, and harder.
Finally Anavar is GREAT for endurance it dramatically increases endurance, tendon strength and muscle strength. A perfect drug for someone who just wants to increase strength and endurance to the highest degree possible. It’s also great for burning fat and replacing it with lean muscle mass all of these will increase his performance.
