Three Quick and Easy Bodybuilding Snacks

What Bodybuilding Snacks Should Be?

Bodybuilding is an incredibly physically demanding sport that also takes a mental toll on the body as well for that matter. People believe bodybuilding to simply be a matter of going to the gym a few times a week, lifting weights for an hour or so, and perhaps drinking a protein shake and eating some chicken before repeating the entire process the next day.

In reality, however, bodybuilding is not simply a hobby, it is a lifestyle, even a career for many as they eat, sleep, and live bodybuilding. Ask any bodybuilder what the hardest part of their chosen sport/profession is, and they’ll tell you it’s the nutritional side of things. In order to build/maintain muscle, burn fat, fuel the body and enhance muscle growth and recovery, bodybuilders need to hit their daily macro (micronutrient) requirements of protein, carbohydrates, and fats, which can be tricky when juggling a personal and professional life on top of building their bodies. If any of the above applies to you, here’s a look at three quick and easy snacks which are ideal for bodybuilders.

Peanut Butter
Peanut butter bodybuilding snacks and supplements are incredibly popular amongst weight lifters all over the world, and it’s no wonder why. Peanut butter bodybuilding snacks and supplements are rich, creamy, and packed full of healthy fats and protein. Many peanut butter bodybuilding enthusiasts will actually eat peanut butter directly out of the jar because it’s that delicious. Always look for natural or organic peanut butter with no added oils, salts, sugars, or artificial ingredients.

Turkey and Swiss Wrap
For bodybuilders that are fed up of drinking a protein shake after protein shake due to not having the time to prepare fresh food in advance, turkey and Swiss wraps are ideal as they take literally seconds to make, and will provide a good percentage of your daily protein and fat macros. The turkey is very lean and is rich in protein, as well as minerals such as iron, whereas the Swiss cheese also contains protein and is a good source of fat and minerals such as calcium. Making them couldn’t be simpler as you basically take a piece of Swiss cheese, or indeed any other cheese you fancy, wrap it in a thick roll of turkey, and enjoy, or store in a cool box until later.

Cottage Cheese and Whey Protein
If it’s late at night and you find yourself craving something sweet and easy, though it may sound odd to some of you, if you go ahead and take a generous serving of cottage cheese, add a scoop of whey protein to it (strawberry works very well), and then blend until smooth, you have yourself a sweet and delicious snack that cures your sweet tooth and provides your body with a very generous portion of protein. Cottage cheese is also much slower to digest than whey protein, so if you do consume it late at night, it will have a similar effect to casein protein, albeit not quite as effective.
