Going to the gym and getting a good workout are totally different things, probably more than ninety perfect on the people inside the gym just go through the motions, sweat a little and call it a day, the other ten percent try to go all out with their training program in order to gain those extra five pounds of muscle, now, when it comes to injuries it doesn’t matter if you posses more knowledge when it comes to muscle growth and training than the normal gym rat, you can still get injured just like the other people that barely break a sweat, injuries are normal and they can happen to anyone inside or outside of the gym, below we are going to share some information on how to prevent and work around injuries at the gym.
It doesn’t really matter if you’re a man pumped up with HGH and Testosterone that’s trying to get 22 inch arms or a woman that’s trying to get that hour glass shape, truth is you’re in the gym to better your physique and if you know a little about bodybuilding then you probably know that the only way to achieve the best results is to lift basic and heavy weights, technically, if you know how to perform each exercise such as barbell bench presses, squats, deadlifts etc. you should be alright and shouldn’t worry about injury but it this isn’t the case for most people, you can never be too careful.
The first tip when trying to avoid injury is knowing how to perform an exercise, ask the trainer for some help or looking up on YouTube, if you don’t use proper form you’re just waiting for disaster, if you’re going insanely heavy try to use a belt, this will help keep tension and pressure on your waist in order to avoid back injuries, if your shoulder hurts use elbow sleeves (same thing goes for knees). Basically you must learn how to control the movements and use preventive equipment only this way will you avoid injury.
Although, sometimes injury can occur outside the gym therefore making working out really painful and almost impossible, it you’re injured the best thing to do is to go to a Chiropractor or a doctor and check yourself out, if the injury isn’t that bad avoid free weights and just use the machines that will activate the muscle that you want to work out (Isolation movements), wear a belt or the necessary equipment and take it easy, it’s pretty common that lifters will injure themselves doing squats or deadlifts , an injury from that type of movement needs rest and a doctor’s opinion.
As you can see, if you take care of yourself and know what you’re doing you shouldn’t by any change get injured but if that ever happens you need to take it easy and don’t stress out over it, if you push it too much while you’re injured you can hurt yourself badly in a way that could prohibit you from going to the gym again, know your body’s limits.
