Since there recent completion of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4, many fans have been waiting for any news regarding the promised sequel to The Last of Us. The game developer has yet to release any official statement regarding the development of The Last of Us 2, hence numerous rumors have been floating around.
As per a report by NeuroGadget, The Last of Us 2 is already under development and Naughty Dog has been working on it due to massive public demand. Moreover, according to this report the game has been under development since earlier this year, however, it wasn’t the main focus of Naughty Dog due to the development of Uncharted 4.
Now that Uncharted 4 has been launched, the game developer can now focus on The Last of Us 2, however, another rumor suggests that the game will be worked on with 100% effort by 2017 and that will also bring with it some official announcements and hopefully details. This is because the game developer is still working on the downloadable content for Uncharted 4, hence a full force team for The Last of Us is still not happening.
It is expected that The Last of Us 2 will be released by 2021 as per FabNews, that is definitely a long wait. However, fans are alright with this expected date as long as the sequel can match its predecessor. That being said, fans are hopeful to get more information regarding the development of the game in the next Electronic Entertainment Expo.
Moreover, there is also word that The Last of Us will be ready for Virtua Reality provided that the release date is far into the future, this is very likely though there is yet to be a confirmation regarding this rumor. That being said, the sequel of the hit survival game may also be playable in the new Nintendo Switch.
So far, what we know is that the game’s storyline has already been finalized thanks to the information shared by Naughty Dog’s creative director Neil Druckmann. He also shared that there will be a new LGBT character to be added into the game.
