Red Dead Redemption is indeed a very popular game, hosting a player population of 13 million, and all those games are waiting patiently for the sequel Red Dead Redemption 2. This popular game is an open world action-adventure game set in a western style, it was released in 2010 and has been popular ever since, causing people to eventually hope for a new installment of the Red Dead series. Note that Red Dead Revolver was released in 2004 that means there is a six-year gap between the two, hence it is possible that Red Dead Redemption 2 will come in 2016. Rumor has it, the sequel or possibly prequel is already in the making. After years of cooking in the oven, the prequel or sequel to Red Dead Redemption might be on its way to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This is all thanks to a recent leak hinting that the game is in development as we speak.
The CEO of Red Dead Redemption developer Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick said something that perked the ears of many fans during the Cowen and Company Analyst conference back in May 2014. Strauss had this to say:
“It seems quite obvious that Red Dead is a permanent franchise,” he said, adding “the risk of just [releasing more games] is that you end up just bulking up your release schedule and that isn’t really what consumers want. Consumers want better, not more.“
The statement was made four years ago and still no announcement has been made. However, a lot of social media posts are hinting that Red Dead Redemption 2 is really in development, especially a post from Rockstar games featuring new cover photos and profile picture that very much hints towards the Red Dead series.
