Gorillaz added new concerts to their list for their forthcoming European tour.
The long awaiting “Humanz” album by GORILLAZ has released, and if this isn’t exciting enough for fans, they have also given new dates for their concert tour to UK. The gang will be striking the road earlier this year, but what do we know about their growth to fame.
So do you know who Gorillaz are?
In 1998 Gorillaz were created by the Blur frontman, graphic artist Jamie Hewlett and much admired solo artist Damon Albarn. They had been pals for more than a few years, but the friends came up with the creative idea for the cartoon band when viewing MTV after shifting into a flat together.
The band includes four imaginary fellows, with Hewlet producing the visual effects. These are 2Dimensionals, on lyrics and keyboards; Murdoch is on bass guitar and drum machine. Russel Hobbs is on drums and percussion and Noodle is on guitars, keys and vocals.
A 2000 Episode “Tomorrow Comes Today” went essentially under the sensor, but the iconic “Clint Eastwood” their debut single, launch the band into the limelight. Eponymous first album of Gorillaz was a globally successful, which took them to number six in the UK music charts and selling eight million copies internationally.
In 2005 their next struggle, “Demon Days”, was even better, taking the Gorillaz on number one spot in the UK and sell more than their single both in America and at home. That top chart got the Grammy Award-winning single Feel Good Including Dirty Harry and DARE. Which gave them their first and till date only UK’s number one single.
In 2010, the bands four albums till date with Plastic Beach released and in 2011 have featured a host of star turns from guest artists.
Snoop Dogg, Lou Reed, De La Soul, Mos Def, Shaun Ryder and are among those who have team up on Gorillaz tracks.
The band led by Damon Albarn launched their fifth album namely “Humanz” on 28th April 2017. The band is collaborating with Vince Staples, Benjamin Clementine and Mavis Staples in this album.
The group declared that they will start tours to Europe in November and December. UK tours include gigs in Brighton, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham and London. And now they have also included another London concert on 5th December at the O2 Arena.
