Kara Saunders, an elite Australian CrossFit athlete, revealed the reasons for not competing in the 2019 CrossFit Games season yesterday. She is expecting that the Down Under CrossFit Championship will take place in Queensland, Australia in May 2019.
Kara and her husband Matt Saunders revealed in their perfect Instagram post capturing the essence of both CrossFit and Australia. She wrote in her Instagram description “Looks like I’ll be substituting my weight vest for a different kind this season. Baby SHE bear due May 2019”
This news is amazing for Saunders’ fans, but also a bit sad at the same time, while it means that Kara will not participate in 2019 CrossFit Games season.
Saunders has competed in the CrossFit Games seven times over the last decade, and her average placing was improved over time. Her highest place finish was seventh from 2015 to 2018, and in 2017 she took the second place. She won the Australia/Pacific Regionals competition 5-times and only twice she finished second.
The CrossFit Games has lost a really competitive athlete for the 2019 CrossFit Games season. With all the changes, the 2019 CrossFit Games season is to be pretty interesting for all athletes.
It’s sad that Saunders won’t participate in 2019 CrossFit Games season; however, we wish her the best of the experience in the year 2019!
