Gwent  is a collecting card game based on the hit game The Witcher 3, and the close beta for this new game has just started. PC and Xbox One players will be able to try out the closed beta, however, only a limited number of users will be lucky enough to participate. As for the PlayStation 4 beta, it is going to come along eventually. The first batch of invitations was already sent out to those players that are already registered on the Official website of Gwent. It is worth mentioning that there is still time to register in order to stand a chance to be included in the second  wave of closed beta invitations. On a tweet by the official Gwent account, they say that: “Don’t worry if you didn’t receive one yet! We’ll be adding more folks over time.”

Gwent is actually a mini-game inside The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and it is a fast-paced strategy card game that will feature two opposing armies at each other’s necks. It has a one-on-one dueling system whereas the player with the best combos and strategy will emerge victoriously.

According to the FAQ, Gwent will run until spring 2017 and the only mode that will be available is the multiplayer mode. It is known that the single-player adventure mode will be implemented once the gull version of the game comes along. They apparently have a lot of plans for Gwent, as it was also mentioned that game will eventually have PvP modes, card art and card voice-overs and skills.

Lastly, there was  statement shared by Marcin Momot, the senior community coordinator in CD Projekt. “Gwent is an example of how the community can have an actual impact on game developers. What we created as a part of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now, because of your involvement, a standalone game and a totally different experience that firmly stands on its own.”
