According to the CrossFit announcement in a press release, Hinrik Ingi Óskarsson of Iceland has tested positive for a banned substance at the Reykjavík CrossFit Championship. The 24-year-old athlete was tested positive for ostarine and RAD-140. These two substances violate CrossFit’s Drug Testing Policy. Óskarsson finished in second place in men’s division behind another Icelandic athlete Bjorgvin Karl Gudmundsson. Hinrik’s sample came from the Reykjavík CrossFit Championship. After that, Óskarsson was banned from CrossFit competition for four years. So next time, he will be able to compete only in May 2013. In the past, the athlete has already been banned from the competition in 2016 after finishing in first place at the Nike Iceland Throwdown. He refused to submit his sample and was banned for two years.
Hinrik represented Team CrossFit Reykjavík called Virtuosity and they finished in 29th place overall. Before the suspicions, he had qualified for this year’s CrossFit Games.
CrossFit HQ announced that Elly Kabboord, the team captain of CrossFit Mayhem Independence, has been suspended for four years as of May 4, 2019. Kabbord was tested positive for the banned substance clenbuterol at the Reykjavík CrossFit Championship a few weeks ago. Her appeal was denied.
CrossFit Mayhem Independence has not yet qualified for the 2019 Games. They will try to compete at the French Throwdown in Paris this weekend. Carolyne Prevost has been called to replace Kabboord on Team Mayhem Independence.
