Clomid For Men: Why and How to Use It

Is Clomid for men?

Let’s get one thing straight, Clomid is not actually an anabolic/androgenic steroid, it’s something else. Clomid is a synthetic estrogen that means it’s one of those sex hormones.

Outside of the gym (and in medical practice), Clomid (in its role as an anti-estrogen) is traditionally used on women to trigger ovulation. On a medical level, Clomid promotes the manufacture of the body’s own stimulant; gonadotropin, which will increase the body’s natural testosterone level.

It’s not just for the ladies as you can also use Clomid for men too, as it has a strong influence on the hypothalamohypophysial testicular axis. Clomid causes an increased release of gonadotropin, this, in turn, gives a faster and higher release of FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) and LH (luteinizing hormone). The result is an elevated natural testosterone level.

This reaction means that Clomid is especially effective if testosterone production is running low. We all know that an intake of anabolic/androgenic steroids can suppress the body’s own testosterone production.

Clomid for Men Using Steroids

For most athletes, Clomid works by bringing the testosterone level back up. It also works on and spermatogenesis (sperm development), and you should see real results within just two weeks. Furthermore, since the antiestrogenic effect of Clomid is lower than that of Proviron, Nolvadex, or Teslac it is a great testosterone stimulant.

Clomid is normally taken once the steroid regime has finished, to restore some natural balance as quickly as possible. This is very important, as a sustained period of low testosterone production can result in a loss of strength and muscle mass. Some trainers like to combine Clomid with HCG for more pronounced results.

Despite the fact that Clomid is a synthetic estrogen, it only has a very low estrogenic effect. This may sound like bad science but the results of Clomid use lead to the stronger estrogens (which can form during the aromatization periods) being obstructed at the receptors.

It’s not a 100% fix as Clomid for men does not prevent the steroids from aromatizing completely, but the increased estrogen is mostly deactivated since it cannot find anything to attach itself to as the receptors are blocked. Thankfully this means that water retention and any possible signs of feminization can be reduced or (hopefully) avoided completely.

Side Effects of Clomid for Men

Although they are very rare, there are some side effects associated with Clomid. But they can usually be avoided if the drug is taken in reasonable dosages. If you do suffer any unwanted side effects (hot flashes and occasional visual disturbances) the manufacturer recommends stopping your Clomid usage. Like many performance enhancers, there can be an effect on liver function, however, serious liver damage is very unlikely.

Ladies have slightly different issues to worry about because Clomid stimulates the ovaries. This means enlargement of the ovaries and abdominal pain can occur for a female during Clomid use. A dosage, usually around 50-100 mg/day (1 -2 tablets) seems to be sufficient for most athletes, and for best results, the tablets should be taken after meals and with fluids.

Most cycles begin with 100 mg a day, taking one 50 mg tablet at breakfast and one after an evening meal. On day six the dosage should be reduced to only one 50 mg tablet per day. Results are fast as it is normally not necessary to take the compound for more than two weeks.
