Ashgabat to host World Weightlifting Championship

100 countries, including 38 European, 15 American, 9 African, 29 Asian, and 9 Oceanian ones, have applied to participate in the competition. About 800 foreign athletes and 1.500 representatives from various countries, along with journalists and judicial brigades are expected to arrive.

The Olympic town in Ashgabat was implemented by the Turkish Polimeks Insaat Taahhut ve Sanayi Ticaret A.S.

Athletes will compete in the capital city of Turkmenistan between November 1 and 10. The championship’s website is already launched, you can check it here  There is information both for competitors and their fans on the site.

As the Championships progress, the site will be constantly updated.

By the way, the Weightlifting Arena in Ashgabat hosted action at the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, as well.

The city has been awarded the event in November 2017, and already in June, it was making “significant progress”, according to the IWF.
