Whiskey Tango Foxtrot: Movie Review, Story, Release Date

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot 2016

The “Crazy Stupid Love “directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa worked on Robert Carlock’s script to present an impressive  war-comedy with a wacky title, Whiskey, Tango and Foxtrot, (the military slang  WTF).

“Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” is a war-based comedy which showcases, actress Tina Fey under the shadow of the popular “Chicago Tribune” Reporter, Kim Barker. Barker is famous for her travel-log “The Taliban Shuffle” Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan,” Jotted in 2011.The memoir has portrayed the author’s visit and stay in—Afghanistan and Pakistan with a humorous backdrop.

In the movie Whiskey, Tango and Foxtrot, Fey is playing the role of Kim Baker, a local TV reporter who lately becomes a potential candidate for the international corresponding position that opens up in Afghanistan. Being single, Kim is considered as the best aspirant for the opening which she accepted daringly and left her boyfriend (Josh Charles) to set-off for Kabul.

As it seems impossible to shoot the movie at real locations, the crew has outsourced India, Israel and Emirates and with all –acquaintances of the hazy atmosphere, the shooting was executed at Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA

Directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are experimenting this time with the savor of humor in the grave combat surroundings -after the traditional “I Love You Phillip Morris,” and “Crazy, Stupid, Love,” The movie Whiskey, Tango and Foxtrot is focusing entirely around a female lead. The directors have accepted a latently stirring challenge of displaying a western woman in a male-dominated society, slot-in with the impediments of an affraying set-up.

The Story:

The story centered the stay of Kim in the barren Afghan lands where she has encountered out of the blue confronts. In this situation, her local interperator, Farouk (Christopher Abbott), gives his hand to get au fait with the desert obligations and customs. The real romance flows on the reel when Kim and Iain Mac Kelpie, a Scottish war photographer (Martin Freeman) get involved in each other .Moreover Molina, a local official, tries to flirt with Kim.

It seems that the comedy in the movie is not up to the grade as inconsistent or patchy work has lessen the quality and the viewer is trapped between the hostility and the romance, the show is offering. Fey has yet to dig out more from her comic façade. The casting of Abbott and Molina in Middle Easterners role is dubious, but overall, the cast is finely placed

The Trailer:

The red band trailer for Paramount’s war comedy “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot
Initiates with British journalist asking Fey for permission to sleep with reporter’s bodyguard whereas It ends with a hilarious moment with Fey on camera, unfolding Afghanistan’s first woman driver, who instantaneously smashes the car.

Despite of some incoherent flaws, the film tries to go smooth between the humor and the drama borders as the trailer demonstrates a war-themed movie on a romantic edge.
