Fans of the hit trilogy The Purge will be glad to know that ‘The Purge’ TV Series is already confirmed and is in the works according to the show’s creator James DeMonaco. In a recent interview with DeMonaco, ‘The Purge’ TV Series will be a 10-hour TV series and will tell the tale about how it all started, what could have been happening to make people agree and want the annual purge to be a thing. For sure, it had to be a pretty bad situation to convince people that legalized murder is the answer.
The Purge Trilogy has indeed been a joyride for many fans, the movies have proven themselves in a way that every new installment to the trilogy, is better that the predecessor. Now fans will be getting ‘The Purge’ TV Series to show how it all began.
“Whether it’s revenge or out of passion, but what might be interesting in a TV show is with a flashback narrative, if you start on Purge Night but you go back to show how people have gotten to where they are,” As told by DeMonaco. He believes that may it be as petty as a husband killing his wife due to infidelity, he wants all that in the series too and all the “dramatic and complex arcs” anything that would make someone take a gun and shoot to kill.
When asked about how the series will follow, DeMonaco has this to say:
“Alright, we’ve done this trilogy. We see how it got to this point of someone trying to end it – this presidential figure. Now let’s go back and see how the fuck all this came about.’ How did this country get to a place where we were now accepting this kind of atrocity, this terrible thing, each year? I think there’s something interesting in that.”
Though DeMonaco is the show’s creator, he may not be the one directing the series. He says, “I’m thinking of maybe writing or at least producing it, to make sure it stays true to what I like about the movies.”
