The internationally famous Scottish actor, Ewan McGregor, 46, reportedly wants to divorce his wife, Eve Mavrakis due to “irreconcilable differences”.
They had been together for 22 years and had 4 daughters Clara, 21, Jamyan, 16, Esther, 15 and Anouk, 6. While he requested for joint custody of his four children, Mavrakis has asked for full custody allowing only visits by her ex.
The date of separation was on May 28th of last year.
Mavrakis was born in France and raised in China.
McGregor married Mavrakis in 1995 after they met on the set of the British TV crime series Kavanagh QC. She is a production designer. She also played the role of production interpreter on the Chinese set of Steven Spielberg’s 1987 movie Empire of the Sun.
After their split in may, the announcement was made in October last year right around when McGregor was spotted kissing his 33-year-old Fargo costar Mary Elizabeth Winstead in a London café and were photographed walking hand in hand in Los Angeles.
Esther spoke about the incident on her instragram while singing and strumming her guitar. She says: “I don’t know to forgive. I don’t know if I can. Ruining me.”
In November Eve broke her silence online when a follower commented on the social media site to express their shock at the split and Eve simply replied: “What can I do?”
McGregor, in his acceptance speech, after winning the golden globes for Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film for Fargo, thanked his wife and Winstead who also divorced her own husband Riley Stearns, in May of last year. They were married in 2010.
McGregor was also named the fourth most influential person in British culture by BBC in 2004. He has been involved in charity work and has served as an ambassador for UNICEF UK since 2004. In 2016, he received the BAFTA Britannia Humanitarian Award.
