Apple Co. has revealed that it will be reducing the price of the iPhone battery replacements to 29$ and they will be available immediately for any model from iPhone 6 to the latest iPhone 8.
Apple earlier had declared it will be offering the cheaper battery replacements in the later part of January. But they have announced the immediate availability of the iPhone battery replacements at a cheaper price by the letter to the customers.
In a statement to TechCrunch, a spoke person from Apple has said, “We expected to need more time to be ready, but we are happy to offer our customers the lower pricing right away. Initial supplies of some replacement batteries may be limited.”
Apple usually keeps a high price of $79 for out-of-warranty iPhone battery replacements, but the tech giant has decreased the price by $50 catering to a wave of controversy regarding its procedure of dynamically managing the top performance of some previous iPhone models with relatively reduced batteries to stop the unexpected shutdowns.
Looking at the rumours in the mainstream media and a lot of news articles have given fuel to the speculation that Apple manually slows down older iPhones so that customers can get attracted to the newest model of iPhone, but the problem really was with Apple’s lack of transparency about the power management changes which the company made starting in iOS 10.2.1.
At the time when the company released iOS 10.2.1 in February, Apple only casually made that they have addressed the previous issue of unexpected shutdowns and hence made “improvement” in order to reduce these instances.
Apple just thought of explaining that the changes made by them might result in temporary slowdowns of some older iPhone models with degraded batteries after controversy came to light again recently.
Apple has announced that the less expensive iPhone battery replacements would available for the grabs worldwide by December 2018. The $29 price is only available in the United States, with prices differing in various countries on the basis of exchange rates.
